Sweden, infinite lands
Sweden is the most temperate of the northern nations, in climate and character in equal measure. It is also extremely vast, and is in fact the third largest country in Europe in terms of surface area, a land of infinite space reaching out into the stratosphere. Seeing is believing.
Yet Sweden is also replete with modern, dynamic cities. This includes the capital, Stockholm, of course, Gothenberg, with its industry and financial activity, and also the city of Malmo to the north, which over time has become the country’s most cosmopolitan city, since 30% of its residents are non-Swedish, heralding from Denmark and Yugoslavia in particular.
And that’s not all. Boasting an economic and social model that is the envy of Europe in its entirety, with its reasoned attitude to taxation and well-adjusted health system, Sweden is an extremely efficient country with a high level of exports ... especially paper. Retirement, unemployment benefits, parental leave, sexual equality … Its annual growth rate has reached 3% and reading the national press is more than just a traditional pastime, for Swedes, who are cultivated and eager to learn, spend on average six hours a day on their press habit. The Metro, the free newspaper available in 23 countries, was launched in Stockholm in 1995 ... just one of its many remarkable inventions.
