Blanc de Blancs 2008 Vintage

Blanc de Blancs 2008 Vintage

Powerful and elegant

2008 is now considered a great Champagne vintage. While a complicated year from a weather perspective, an unseasonally sunny and dry first two weeks in September ensured perfectly healthy and highly concentrated grapes were picked at optimum ripeness.

Blend and Vinification :

40-45 crus make up the blend of this 100% Chardonnay Champagne.  The grapes are sourced essentially from the villages of Côte des Blancs, Sézannais, Montgueux and Montagne de Reims. The Chardonnay brings remarkable freshness and elegance to the Champagne.

Ageing for at least 8 years in the cellars together with a dosage of 8-8.5g/litre allows this wine to reveal precise and crystal-clear citrus fruit notes.

Appearance:

Attractive pale gold in appearance tinged with delicate turquoise glints. A joyful formation of delicate bubbles pirouettes in the glass with natural grace.

Nose:

Generous citrus fruit aromas of lemon, grapefruit and kumquat dominate on the palate, while delicate earthy notes of mint and honeysuckle enhance the overall effect. Crunchy notes of Williams pear follow suit, while delicate, honeyed aromas of Royal Jelly add the ultimate seductive touch on the finish.

Palate:

The freshness and exuberance on the palate contrast admirably with pronounced citrus fruit aromas.

Food and wine pairings:

This Champagne would make a heavenly match to shellfish such as crayfish and lobster or refined fish like roasted or lightly grilled sea bream.
It will also shine with refined white meats such as pan-fried veal.
